Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. In her early Broadway role, she was in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. She received her Tony Award for Best Featured actor in the Play in the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working with well-known directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive program Welcome to Chippendales which premieres on November 22nd. Ashford is working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. It will also be available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. The film will premiere in March 2023. Ashford will return to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The same team that created Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at leading the show. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the national crisis that swept up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment proceedings in over one century. Her two seasons on CBS show B Positive was her first big character. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie on You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway credits. Ashford is an Denver native who now divides his time between Los Angeles.
